Call if karma or the circle of life or whatever you will, but Lightning Maroon Clownfish are finally coming back to Blue Zoo Aquatics. We originally reported that offspring from the original specimen that was captured in Papua New Guinea three years ago were heading to BZA in October and we have confirmed it is finally happening. We have word that fish are being shipped and should be at Blue Zoo in the next week or so.
If you recall the original specimen was captured in Papua New Guinea and eventually made its way to Blue Zoo Aquatics. From there it went into the very capable hands of Matt Pedersen who was able to pair up the unique specimen with another clown to get a breeding pair.
Matt was able to coax this couple into spawning and then successfully reared the spawn to hatching and through the delicate process to a juvenile state. Now that he’s successfully bred these fish, he finally has fish heading to market and they will be available exclusively at Blue Zoo Aquatics.
We are looking forward to seeing this fish on the market as we’ve been closely involved from the sidelines and are excited to see the fish come full circle. No word on the pricing of these fish or how many will be available. Either way, we expect these to go rather quickly.
