We’ve reported on the Fluval Marine Systems before, and they here at MACNA 2013 to let us know they are now available from any retailer that sells Hagen products. Two systems were on display, a 14-gallon and 24-gallon all-in-one systems. The 14 gallon will have an MSRP of $499, while the larger 24-gallon will go for $599. The price includes the acid etched tank, stand, LED fixture, return pump, circulation pump, heater and a nice little protein skimmer. The rear compartment has an area designed to run as a refugium, and a drain port that will drain 20% of the tank’s volume. The 14-gallon Fluval Sea includes their swiveling Nano-LED, while their 24-gallon comes with one of their LED Striplights. The acid etched glass is a nice feature that will hide some unsightly areas at the surface, bottom and filter area.
These tanks are sure to be a big hit for retailers. The pricing is really attractive when you add up all the components. Combining the price with the wide distribution and support of a large company like Hagen, and you have the right recipe to usher in a new generation of young reef hobbyists as well as folks wanting a simple system without worrying about purchasing components individually.
