The Radion G3 and Radion G3 Pro are Ecotech Marine’s annual revamp of the flagship LED light fixture which is happening on an annual basis now. Whereas last year we saw the Radion G2 and Pro fixtures only getting incremental upgrades to their Light Emitting Diodes, the 3rd generation Radion brings with it a host of more than cosmetic upgrades.
First up, the Radion G3 LED now includes indigo and ultraviolet (UV) LEDs with to expand its spectral output beyond the Radion G2, and bringing it more in line with the Current Radion Pro. Meanwhile, the photon-cranking machine they call the Radion Pro G3 is stepping up to Cree XP-G2 and Osram Oslon square LEDs for even more insane amounts of PAR.
Two noteworthy changes to the Radion G3’s chassis is the replacement of the fan cover from a three-piece grill to a single molded piece that is much easier to clean, and should hold up better to the aquatic environment. The Radion G3 and Pro G3 will be equipped with the standard TIR lens clusters of old so if you want that super wide spread you’ll have to order up the 120 degree TIR lenses separately.
The biggest hardware revision to the Radion G3 and G3 Pro is the replacement of those POS capcitive touch-sensitive buttons to discrete, pushable buttons. The same Up, Down and Cycle buttons will still be present in their familiar arrangements but they are now backlit so you can actually see what brightness of colors you are trying to cycle through on your Radion G3 or G3 Pro.
The Radion G3 is priced at $649 and the Radion Pro G3 is priced at the same $749, both are available now and should have already begun phasing out the inventory of the Radion G2 and Radion Pro which have been priced to close out at $549 and $699 respectively.
