The Giesemann Pulzar LED striplight is a new LED offering from the esteemed aquarium lighting manufacturer. The Pulzar is a high performing, controllable LED light which leapfrogs the woefully outdated Quazar LED with its quaint diodes and antiquated secondary lenses.
Compared to the barely-mentionable Cree X series LEDs of the Quazar, the Pulzar will be using bleeding edge Cree MLE and XH-G which promise incredible longevity while delivering upwards of 170 lumens per watt! Already well known for their cutting edge designs, Giesemann took its sweet time putting together a fully fledged LED fixture but now that it’s committed, they are going all in with the latest and greatest diodes we’ve yet seen in an Aquarium LED light.
The Pulzar LED striplight from Giesemann will be offered in an ECO and an HO model with the latter offering up to 50% more light output, as well as 1% incremental light adjustments, three colors of color control and bluetooth connectivity. In a great new direction, the Pulzar will rely not on any kind of secondary optics to focus light because since these bad boys will be bright enough, they will rely on sheer power to produce a nice and uniform light field using only the native 120 degree primary optics of the “raw” LEDs.
Giesemann is really going all in with their Pulzar LED striplight as the emerging leading form factor for wider LED adoption by making their LED strips in no fewer than six lengths ranging from 18, 26, 34 and 42 inch models, as well as unprecedented 50 and 58 inch lengths. Additionally there will be a freshwater and a marine version, all in both ECO and HO models for a bewildering array of sizes, colors and power levels to suit a wide range of aquarium needs.
Prices for this many different Pulzar LED striplights are naturally all over the board but a High Output 26 inch Marine Pulzar is looking like it’ll land for around $299, with a bevy of accessories available to make the most out of mounting and controlling the LED light to the users’s taste. InterZoo is the big coming out party for Giezemann’s latest and very promising new LED entry and you can be sure we’ll be the first on the scene to tell you all about Giesemann’s vision for our aquarium LED future.
