The Tunze Turbelle NanoStream 6020 and controllable 6040 are an interesting new twist on what a reef aquarium propeller pump can be. Instead of being directable with an articulating mount like a contemporary stream water pump, the NanoStream 6020 and 6040 are mounted vertically with the propeller pointed up towards the aquarium surface and a built in deflector to direct water up and and over the reefs cape.
The flow pattern of this kind of water pump is not only good for the health of the reef but it also enable the unique NanoStream 6020 and 6040 to be hidden behind the aquarium aquascape. The wide water jet is three dimensionally adjustable at the pump outlet, and the magnetic mount, again with vibration absorbing pads, ensures quiet operation and further refinement of the water flow direction.
The Tunze NanoStream 6020 is a true nano water pump with a power rating of 4 watts, pushing 660 gph and rated for use in tanks from 10 to 60 gallons. Meanwhile the NanoStream 6040 is a controllable version of this novel design and is Tunze’s smallest controllable water pump with a power rating of 1.5 to 13 watts, a flow rate of 53 to 1190 gph and is recommended for tanks up to 130 gallons. UK list pricing for the NanoStream 6020 is 33£ which should shake out to $49 in the US while the NanoStream 6040 is listing for 108£ in the UK, and approximately $182 in direct currency exchange, but will probably be a little less when it launches.
