Fluval’s popular EDGE line of all in one aquariums are celebrating the third generation milestone with new larger models that is brought to modern spec standards with new LED lights and the groundbreaking new Simpletec power filter. The new larger Fluval EDGE aquarium holds 72 liters (19 gallons) and will be available in a basic model, an EDGE Plant model and an EDGE Reef model.
All three larger Fluval EDGE tanks are a celebration of style and design with swanky colored highlights, attractive modern stands and most of all, a simple and practical approach to addressing the requirements of three popular categories of aquarium keeping. The standard Fluval EDGE has white accents and is equipped with the new touch-controlled LED 2.0 striplight and the backwashing Simpletec power filter while the EDGE Plant is trimmed in green color with a plant version of the Fluval LED 2.0.
The EDGE Reef setup has a black hood equipped with the Marine & Reef LED 2.0 and also comes with their internal PS1 protein skimmer which is easily accessed through one of three hinged doors in the top of the aquarium. All of the LEDs included in the new large Fluval EDGE are fully interoperable with the recently announced Timer and Wifi modules which together with the mobile application brings the entire system into sophisticated aquarium territory.
Oftentimes when a large company like Hagen tries to design and offer an all in one aquarium system it feels like a lot of compromises are made along the way but we couldn’t point a single gap in the third generation offerings of the Fluval EDGE tanks. The basic and plant versions of the EDGE tanks include everything you need including latest generation LED lighting that even experienced aquarist will be happy with, there’s even a specially designed heater available that goes into a chamber within the Simpletec power filter.
Depending on the aquascape and density of corals in the EDGE Reef, the only other device that you might need is some kind of small propeller water pump. All specifications aside, the styling of the Fluval EDGE tanks is what makes them stand out and we must confess that the lime green EDGE Plant system was really grabbing our attention – we’d love to see this same style applied to the EDGE Reef with a bright blue top and blue accents in the stand.
While the previous first and second generation Fluval EDGE aquariums were great small starter tanks, the larger size, improved filtration, lighting, and greater access in the larger EDGE aquariums is just ripe for creating some beautiful and stylish aquarium builds. Hagen should begin shipping all three versions of the Fluval EDGE tanks throughout the summer with pricing to be formally announced very soon.
Never. Fluval confirmed the product will not be coming to market.
When will this be available
