Macro Aqua has a new line of curious propeller water pumps with a an oscillating base built right in. The three sizes of the oscillating propeller pumps from Macro Aqua have an enlarged base-mount which serves both to fix the device to the aquarium glass and to provide an automatic oscillating motion with an apparent sweeping angle of 90 to 100 degrees.
The prototype oscillating pumps from Macro Aqua were so fresh of the press at InterZoo that we couldn’t find a specific name or box to glean more information about them. What we could gather is that the three different oscillating propeller pump water movers come in three sizes, each with a wildly different cage-housing design that only served to differentiate the models, but with different outlets they should all be endowed with varying flow characteristics as well.
The new oscillating pump models are moved using an electric motor, as opposed to some mechanical trickery. While the new Macro Aqua pumps did look bulky in the tank, they are considerably smaller than using a standalone pump moving device like a Sea Sweep and they offer more flexibility in terms of placement and orientation. Macro Aqua did not yet have pricing available for their interesting oscillating water pump but like most of their other products we expect them to be remarkably low-cost.
