The Hydra 26 LED light from AquaIllumination was only just announced a little over a mont ago but its already starting to get distributed through to users and resellers. We got a nice sample Hydra 26 in a swanky white and silver to contrast well with the larger, black Hydra 52 it’s posing with, and we must confess to being in love with the clean lines and industrial design that AquaIllumination brings to their lighting products.
With 26 colorful and top quality high output LEDs, the Hydra 26 is far from being a nano LED light and more like a fully fledged piece of capable lighting hardware. The dual clusters of the Hydra 26 and diffusing finish on the lens should ensure that it can achieve proper color blending even on the smaller tanks it will likely end up illuminating.
For a while now the rising popularity of cube-shaped tanks in the two foot range has been primarily illuminated with spotlights like Kessils or fully fledged lights with way more power than these types of tanks need. With a light like the Hydra 26, reefers with medium sized tanks now have access to a full-featured LED light in a smaller package but enough power to grow a proper stony coral reef.
