Aquarium Specialty’s Biotek Marine line just added a catalog of ceramic reef rock in a variety of shapes and sizes. The Biotek Marine Ceramic rocks come in three basic types, a ceramic cave rock, a ceramic shelf rock, and a sculptured rock which includes structural elements of the two previous rocks with an assortment of holes, caves, ledges and so forth.
Ceramic rock is one of the best options for building a reefscape that begins free of unwanted algaes, pests and residual nutrients but up until now, its mass adoption has really been limited by availability. Ceramic rock makers like AquaRoche and Cerameco have been around for years but the supply has always been too small for the general reefer to get their hands on more than a few pieces.
With the announcement of new Ceramic reef rock by BioTek Marine from Aquarium Specialty, we hope to see more coral enthusiasts building coral aquariums without having to replicate the whole reef ecosystem. Aquarium Specialty is offering the BioTek Marine Ceramic rock in enough shapes and sizes, at good prices too, so it is possible we could see a lot more ceramic reef aquarium aquascapes in the near future.
