The new Coralife LED Aqualight and interchangeable LED Tri-Lamps are an affordable way to get some customized LED lighting over your tank. As we saw before MACNA, the new LED Aqualight is fitted with just a portion of possible LED Tri-Lamps along with integrated directional lunar blue LEDs.
For example, the 48-in. LED Aqualight comes with 10 factory preloaded Tri-Lamps out of the possible 18 the fixture can hold. Right out of the box this light should hit similar (or maybe a touch less) PAR than a comparable four-bulb T5HO Aqualight. This should be good for a simple mixed reef or lightly planted tank without corals with intensive lighting demands. Now, packed with an additional 8 Tri-Lamps, your PAR performance is significantly greater and should give you strong coverage for a SPS reef tank.
We also have a bit more information on the Tri-Lamps themselves. Each bulb features three 1W LEDs and will retail for around $39.99. Here is a bit more detail on each configuration:
10,000K Daylight – Features three cool white LEDs
60/40 – Two cool white and one blue LED
Actinic – The 450nm blue LEDs
Tri-Chromatic – One red, blue and cool white LED
Colormax – Two cool white and one red LED
The fixtures contain three power cords so you can easily control your full cycle as well as integrated cooling fans. You can get this light in either a 24 in. (MSRP $249.99), 30 in. (MSRP $299.99), 36 in. (MSRP $349.99) or 48-in. length (MSRP $399.99). Each light is fitted with 10,000K, 60/40 and Colormax LEDs:
24 in. Aqualight– two 10,000K, two 60/40 and one Colormax with four extra slots
30 in Aqualight — two 10,000K, three 60/40 and two Colormax with four extra slots
36 in. Aqualight — two 10,000K, four 60/40 and two Colormax with six extra slots
48 in. Aqualight — four 10,000K, four 60/40 and one Colormax with eight extra slots
We are not sure what the final price and availability will be on this light, but will pass it on as soon as we have it.
