Innovative Marine makes a lot of aquarium gadgets and accessories but we have to say, the Gourmet Grinder is one of our favorite releases in a long while. Clearly inspired by salt and pepper grinders for the human food table, the Gourmet Grinder is specially designed to be an innovative way to feed your fish.
The Gourmet Grinder not only grinds flake and pellet food down to smaller size, but it is also intended to be a handy way to dispense food without getting food on your fingers. The only other food dispenser ever made, really, is the all-glass food dispenser from another ground-breaking aquarium company, Aqua Design Amano.
But the Gourmet Grinder is much more affordable, much less breakable, and in so many ways, much more practical. So many times we’ve had small fish in our tanks requiring extra small pellets or flake foods, and we’ve gone through the trouble of crushing it between our fingers, leaving ourselves a little smelly mark that needed to be cleaned up, especially after holding the mash underwater so that it can soak up water and sink into the tank.
The Gourmet Grinder does all these functions in one easy package, it costs just $24.99 and it looks really good doing it. In all honesty, the Gourmet Grinder is in no way an aquarium necessity for feeding your fish, but going hands-free in feeding and dispensing fish food with the Gourmet Grinder is a much classier way to be an aquarist.
