We were able to get an advance peek at the new Orphek Kaspian LED pendent geared towards larger aquariums and the public aquarium market that need higher performance. Besides a unique design, the new Orphek Kaspian is sporting a large LED multichip pushing out 120W of LED photon goodness.
The signature look of the Orphek Kaspian is the integrated heat sink ,and large, central lens focusing the pendant’s light. As we mentioned in the open, the Kaspian is rated at 120W courtesy of a matrix LED chip with 120 x 3W LEDs that operate at 1W.
Driving the power for the light is an industrial-grade Mean Well driver. Using a top-notch drivers means there is greater efficiency, longevity and efficacy of the LEDs. On top of this, the driver is rated at IP67 meaning it is protected against water immersion up to a meter deep.
There are a few Kelvin temperature options based on the LED chip combination as well as the ability to order it with 45-, 60-, 90- and 120-degree lenses. The light is dimmable with the option of a dimming driver. The light also integrates with Neptune Apex, Reefkeeper and other digital controllers capable of 10VDC or PWM operation.
The Orphek Kaspian is just over 9 inches in diameter and the light housing sits just under 4 inches tall, is available in either 100 or 240 volt AC formats. Orphek will have the new Kaspian and other models on display at their booth at MACNA (#916).
