The Elos Essential Line is a new design from the Italian fine aquarium manufacturer which aims to make their luxurious rimless glass aquariums a little more affordable for aquarists. Just one level below the Elos flagship Diamond Line aquariums, the Essential Line delivers most of the great features you come to expect from the best Elos aquariums, with some minor compromises to help get the overall cost down a little bit.
To be honest, you’d be hard pressed to tell the immediate differences when seeing a Diamond Line and an Essential Line aquarium right next to each other. Both tank models come with a high quality stand, but they differ primarily in the type and quantity of glass used.
Compared to the Diamon Line, the Essential Line uses slightly less thick glass panels, only has high clarity glass on the front glass, and it uses just a single pane of glass for the bottom, compared to several for the Diamond Line aquariums. Other than that, the Elos Essential Line Aquariums use the same high capacity QuietDrain overflow, and it comes with a pared down sump which is still versatile enough to be customized for a variety of needs.
Elos will be offering the Essential Line Aquariums in two sizes, the Elos 100e and the Elos 120e, both names relate to the length of the front glass. The Elos Essential Line 100e is 100 x 57 x 87 cm high (39 x 22 x 34 inches) and the 120e just adds 20 centimeters or 8 inches to the overall length of the tank.
The best part is that the Essential Line aquariums start at about $1000 for the tank, stand and basic sump, leaving you more money in the wallet to pay for equipment and livestock.
