The new M2600 WSRT LED Dive Light from X Adventurer looks like many other dive lights of this kind, but it hides a very special trick. Naturally, LED dive light makers tend to use the brightest most efficient LEDs on the market to give their users as much light as possible.
The trouble with this approach, is that the most efficient LEDs are always in the Cool White color category, and using solely these for illumination has a low CRI, and flat, kind of frosty light color. On the flip side, warm white and neutral white colored LEDs produce less lumens per watt, but they bring out more warm colors and have better CRI than cool white LEDs.
With this idea in mind, X Adventurer could have made a light with a blend of both cool white and warm white LEDs but they’ve gone a step further in the M2600 WSRT LED Dive Light. This bright waterproof LED dive light has both a bank of cool white LEDs for brightness, and a bank of warm white LEDs for color.
The button on the M2600 WSRT is also a dial, allowing photographers and videographers alike the ability to dial in the light spectrum to their liking. With the X Adventurer M2600 WSRT you can generate a light beam of up to 2600 lumens with a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin or you can warm up the light color to 3,500K to compliment the blue ambient light underwater.
For us the best setting will probably be right in the middle with a balance of bright white light and colorful warm light. With virtually all LED dive lights using cool white LEDs as the primary light source, the X Adventurer with its blend of warm and cool white light has been on our wish list for a long time, and we can’t wait to give one a go underwater.
The X Adventurer M2600 WSRT has all the typical specifications of a fully fledged LED dive light, with depth rating down to 100 meters, a one hour run time at full brightness. This light also includes a narrow spotlight beam LED at 900 lumens for 90 minutes, and there’s also an accessory red LED channel that can run for up to 300 minutes at 200 lumens. The M2600 WSRT comes as a complete kit with two replaceable, rechargeable 32650 batteries and spare o-rings for $380. [X Adventurer]
