If you needed any proof that corals have yet to reveal all of their mind blowing colors and patterns to us, then look no further than this unbelievable “glitter line” Trachyphyllia. We’ve seen Trachies with all number of fascinating colors, from rainbows, to some with black rings and even perfectly bicolored specimens but this coral is truly one of a kind.
The Glitter Line Trachyphyllia was collected at a very unique location by Ultra Corals Australia, in a super shallow water habitat where Trachies seems to be pushed in by prevailing water flow. This is a very unusual habitat to be finding Trachyphyllia, a coral which generally is found in deeper and calm waters, so it’s fitting that such an insane color morph would be discovered here.
Before you go and get your hopes up of ever seeing or even acquiring this coral, be aware that it is already destined for the tank of a private collector in Australia. However, if the past is any indication we know that while this coral is the first to show the incredibly intricate pattern of light blue lines and webbing, it likely won’t be the last.
Big shout out to Ultra Corals Australia for taking these incredible images upon request, and sharing a coral the likes of which the reefing had never seen before.
