Klir is a new automatic filter roll from CoralVue that we expect will be arriving later this fall. A flashy new video hints at many interesting features of the new Klir Filter but we’re dying to discover how CoralVue hopes to crack the Automatic Filter Roll for the masses.
The concept of automatic filter replacements was a dream until about 8 years ago when large gravity driven models began becoming available . However these large devices were designed mostly for ponds, and the unpowered nature of these didn’t adapt well to aquarium applications.
Fast forward about five years and cheaper and smaller automatic filter rolls, most prominently the Rollermat, became widely available and afforded reefers the opportunity to test these in aquarium settings. It’s been several years since the launch of the RollerMat but we still haven’t reached a tipping point, or hardly any momentum in this space for a variety of reason.
CoralVue is aiming to change all that with a new take on the auto filter roll (AFR) concept with the new Klir FIlter. Details on the new Klir filter are scant, but since CoralVue has become a an important player in the North American reef scene, we have faith that they have a good idea of the needs and requirements us reefers have for using a device like the Klir Filter.
