Fritz RPM Salt is quickly becoming one of the most popular seawater mixes with reefers in the United States, mostly due to its great chemistry, clean mixing and affordable cost. But now those of us with higher alkalinity demands are going to have one two more reasons to love Fritz RPM.
The first one is a new high alkalinity formula that has started trickling out to professional users, with Carolina Aquatics sharing the image above of their test batch. Whether you like to run your reef aquarium alkalinity at natural seawater levels, or slightly elevated, since our reef tanks are always sucking down the carbonates it makes sense to do water changes with slightly higher dKH seawater to combat the downward trend.
Equally awesome is that now 200 gallon boxes of Fritz RPM are coming prepackaged with small 50 gallon bags inside. This is incredibly useful for measuring out salt to mix, especially in my case since I use 55 gallon drums to mix my seawater. But also having the salt prepackaged should reduce stratification, ensuring that every 50 gallon bag within the boxes of RPM salt will mix even more consistently every time.
