We stopped by Dr. Tim’s Aquatics’ booth at ReefAPalooza this weekend and were given a sneak peek at the new Dr. Tim’s Time Release Waste Away Gels.
These were designed to prevent “too much of a good thing” for people that would add more liquid Waste Away than was needed and would inadvertently cause negative consequences of having too much bacteria in the system.
The Waste Away Time Release Gels are encased in a plastic shell that allow the bacteria to slowly release in your system over 30 days, to help prevent adding too much. Just remove the plastic tape from over the vents and attach it using a suction cup or hanging on something in your tank, sump or filter return.
The gel itself doesn’t dissolve, just the bacteria will be released. Each gel pack with will come in three sizes for both freshwater (a green color) and saltwater systems (a blue color) that change to a tan color when depleted.
Dr. Tim’s Waste Away Time Release Gels will be available in January and will retail for around $10 for the small pack (for up to 10 gallons), $16 for the medium (up to 30 gallons) and around $22 for the large (up to 75 gallons).
