Innovative Marine’s AUQA Gadget DIY mesh screen lid kit pro is another option for building a custom aquarium lid similar to the Red Sea Aquarium Net Cover we covered a while back but without some the same features.
The AUQA Gadget screen kit is designed to give you a straightforward four-sided lid. The kit comes with the four side braces, four corners, screen and spline.
It is put together similar to how you go about using a window screen kit you get at the home improvement store. You measure, cut the aluminum frame with a hacksaw, slip in the corner brackets, measure and cut the mesh, then use a flexible spline to hold it in the frame.
Unlike the Red Sea kit that allows you to create multiple turns to fit around equipment, overflows, etc., and comes with a feeding window. The AUQA Gadget is just a straightforward lid that is easy to put together and prevent jumpers from diving to their doom.
The kit fits into traditional aquarium bracing but if you have a rimless tank, you’ll need to grab some plastic clips to support the lid. There are three versions a 24 in., a 36 in. and a 48 in. kit that retail around $35, $45 and $55 respectively.
