The SunMotion is a new moving LED light from AquaConnect, a company with a long history in making innovative aquarium lights which usually don’t make their way out of Europe. When Focustronic introduced the concept of a moving LED light we didn’t ever expect we’d see another company give it a try but the SunMotion really goes all in.
Instead of using a small cluster spotlight of LEDs, the SunMotion moves its entire panel in one axis from side to side at up to a fairly dramatic 45 degree angle. Each panel which consist of 47 LEDs in a wide array of colors ranging from UV to multiple shades of blue, pink, red and a little infrared for maximum total spectral range.
The SunMotion is available in a single, dual or triple panel design with each one capable of delivering up to 127 watts of power at maximum output. There’s also a basic white LED striplight on each side of the SunMotion fixture to help fill in the gap in light when the panels are at their maximum tilt.
Since both the panels, striplights and power supplies are inside the fixture this is a pretty substantial sized light intended mostly for larger tanks. The single panel SunMotion is 67cm (26 inch) long and costs 1359€ (~$1607), the dual panel model is 100cm (39 inch) long and costs 2669€ (~$3157) while the biggest triple panel SunMotion is 167cm (66 inch) long and has not yet been priced for release as of this publication.
