The Rossmont Skemer is an exciting new protein skimmer from the Italian company that keeps delivering innovative aquarium gear. Where the majority of the aquarium companies have embraced controllable DC pumps for their devices, Rossmont has carved out a singular path using their own version of controllable AC pumps.
As soon as we learned of the Rossmont Riser pumps last year we knew that the first AC controllable protein skimmer from Rossmont wouldn’t be far behind. But then when the larger Riser RX centrifugal pumps we thought maybe the AC Skimmer might be a future release, but we are pleasantly surprised that it will be available sooner than expected.
Rossmont will offer the Skemer in two models and sizes, both using the Riser SX, a needle wheel version of the Riser RX. The Riser SX is still an AC 120VAC powered pump but it’s “Waver Ready” , thus with the option to fully control the pump / skim when it is plugged into the Waver.
The Rossmont Skemer is an internal type protein skimmer with an externally mounted pump for large skimming volume and quicker access to the pump. The Skemer S250 is rated for 250 gallons and will be priced at $549 while the Skemer S500 is rated for 500 gallons and will be priced at $699, both of which will be available early 2019.
