My Reef Creation aka MRC is one of the aquarium world’s most esteemed fabricators of high end and commercial aquarium equipment. For two decades MRC has been setting a high bar for protein skimmers, calcium reactors, sumps and lots of commercial grade equipment and now they’re about to do the same for water pumps.
If you need a pump that can push thousands of gallons of water and keep a very high pressure profile, for the most part you’ve had to consider either an AC powered pump like the Reeflo or DC powered model like the high profile Abyzz pump. We can all agree that there’s a lot of room in the high volume/high pressure water pump market between the Reeflo and Abyzz pumps, and this is where the new MRC Pump will come in.
The MRC Pump will not be a controllable DC pump, it will not be submersible, but it will be made in America with the highest quality parts and components. One of the biggest drawbacks of Reeflo pumps is the need to replace seals on an annual basis and this is one big way the MRC Pump will differ with much longer lasting seals.
Since the MRC Pump will be the first new external centrifugal pump developed in recent years, we expect big improvements in the motor, volute and impeller. This should translate to higher volumes, higher efficiency, more durability and quieter operation. Naturally, we expect MRC to also develop a needle wheel version of their pump, but we will have to wait for more details to be available when the MRC Pump gets announced and revealed in the coming weeks.
