I don’t think anyone was more excited to see a white version of Kessil’s A360X LED spotlight at MACNA than me. Every single aspect of the light’s performance, color spectrum, controls etc. is identical to the black one, but it really stirred something in my inner color wheel that I didn’t expect. Since Kessil has been making their horticulture lights in white we’ve wanted a white aquarium Kessil for many years.
For those of you who have followed along with the build out of the Reef Builders Studio, you know that the motif is pretty much all white with very sparing use of blue accents. This is both Reef Builder’s color palette but also helps to make the Studio seem larger, brighter, more inviting and clean. It’s been very easy to select aquarium setups and especially stands with white color option but the white Kessil A360X is a rare product line with that option.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that AquaIllumination has had both black and white color option for nearly ten years, but they didn’t stop there since they’ve also offered a white/light colored mounting arm to complete the look. This is something we want Kessil to keep in mind if they release their newest saltwater and freshwater spotlight in white; you’ve got to at least offer up a white mounting arm and hardware.
Now if Kessil wants to go all the way they’ll even wire it up with a white power cable but if they really want to join us in the OCD color matching department, we need a white wireless dongle too! Whatever the future holds, we simply loved seeing the white Kessil A360X and while it was a completely superficial, cosmetic change, it really appeals to our aspiring interior designer.
