Several months ago at MACNA we spotted something which really piqued our attention, and that was an all-white Kessil A360X. Since the early days of Kessil the black colored lights were reserved to the aquarium spectrum models, and the white lights were only found in the horticultural spectrum models.
Our initial enthusiasm for this new ‘colorway’ was not unwarranted as at Reefapalooza last weekend Kessil took it up a notch with a ‘Ghosted Out’, all white version of the A360x. While the white Kessil on display in Orlando was white with black cables and mounting, the one we spotted in Chicago was completely white, down to the cables, the mounting arm, and even the reflector was all white.
While the power cable and mounting arm may have been hastily painted as a demo, the reflector was produced in white lending more credence to the possibility of this angelic combination coming to market. We don’t think that the clamp for the mounting arm needs to be white as well, that might be more distracting than anything, breaking up the clean lines of our precious rimless tanks.
So far we’ve only seen the white Kessil A360x demonstrated in freshwater spectrum lights, and we’ve yet to verify whether both the marine and planted models will get the ghosted out treatment.
