The Red Sea Max Nano Peninsula is the newest all in one aquarium to come out of the Israel-base reef aquarium company. We first learned about the Max Nano Peninsula a couple weeks ago from a printed Red Sea catalog where our European editor Jeremy Gay spied the fun dimensions on this slightly larger version of the mega popular Max Nano aquarium.
There is a growing trend for peninsula tanks, an aquarium which is longer from front to back than from side to side which encourages the placement between living spaces so that the aquarium can be viewed from both sides and the end. While there is plenty of selection when it comes to larger peninsula tanks, the Max Nano Peninsula is a lonely choice when it comes to a smaller aquarium with peninsular dimensions.
Whereas the Max Nano is basically a small cube shaped aquarium the Max Nano Peninsula is 45 by 45 cm in cross section but now just under 60cm or two feet from the front to the back. Aside from the unique footprint everything else about the Red Sea Max Nano Peninsula is the same as the cube shaped Max Nano which we’ve been enjoying at the Reef Builders Studio for nearly three years.
Red Sea packs the Max Nano Peninsula with the same 50 watt ReefLED, surface overflow, a fun pint sized protein skimmer, and the quiet Sicce return pump which exits from an adjustable nozzle to point the flow where you want, diminishing the need for additional flow pumps in most cases. You’d be forgiven for not knowing that Red Sea really kicked off the modern All In One Aquarium craze with the original Red Sea Max and they’ve stayed at the top of the pack with popular releases like the Max Nano so there’s no doubt that the Max Nano Peninsula will enjoy a similar degree of fanfare.
