Tropical Marine Centre showed off a new AIO nano aquarium at the Vivarium show in Holland, last week. A bigger brother to The Next Wave 60 All-In-One tank, the new 85-liter model stretches into Peninsula dimensions at 38x56x40cm, allowing extra real estate for coral placement but also offering the ability to flip the tank side-on to benefit from clear viewing right through the tank. We’re bringing you this information a week AHEAD of its official launch so don’t have all the details yet, but here’s what we know so far:
Just like The Next Wave 60, TNW 85 will come with a media basket, air-driven protein skimmer, and the small, Reef Pump 500 fixed-speed DC pump. Lighting comes in the form of the 18-watt, four-channel, Bluetooth connectable Ion LED lighting system only its been spun around to much better fit the elongated shape of the 85-liter peninsula. There are two interchangeable outlet nozzles and the Reef Guard net cover and a suitably dimensioned cabinet will be available separately in the near future.
For reefers placed outside Great Britain, the UK is experiencing a Cost of Living Crisis with rocketing energy bills so the need to keep the running costs down is a priority for many. TMC has reflected the times with the launch of these nano reef tanks and literally counted every watt of energy used via their components. No price has been released yet although the smaller Next Wave 60 sells for around £330 in the UK and 399 Euros in Europe. With such a low price for the tank/equipment bundle, we would however happily pay more to get the all-important heater and air pump (for the skimmer,) included. We would fit an additional ATO too.
The Next Wave 85 joins Fluval, Waterbox, and Red Sea in the popular Nano Peninsula aquarium category. Its smaller brother is already widespread in British aquatic shops and we will bring more information as it becomes available.
