Focustronic is to release a new entry-level doser called the Dosetronic DC. Like the Dosetronic before it, the new unit will consist of five dosing channels and will be able to work in conjunction with Alkatronic and Mastertronic to make incremental adjustments to dosing based on their readings. It will be equipped with new (Kamoer-looking,) stepper motors, with a minimum dosing volume of 0.5ml and an accuracy of +/-2%.
The original Dosetronic unit will receive an update, allowing it to conduct a continuous water change of up to 20 liters daily, as well as gaining new variable flow capabilities which its makers say will reduce daily swings when fitted to calcium reactors, versus those on continuous, but fixed flow.
The Alkatronic/Dosetronic/Mastertronic combo is highly desirable and promises automated stability across many key parameters, but its price makes it cost-prohibitive to many. Faced with competition from more and more monitors and KH control systems, and the falling price of auto dosers, this is a step in the right direction in order to bring that package price down and keep the Focustronic ecosystem of products current, and attractive.
With five dosing heads and the Focustronic badge, we don’t envisage this unit being quite as entry-level as say a straight Kamoer unit, but with the current Dosetronic commanding over $700, any reduction on that will be welcomed by future Focustronic investors.
