Reef Octopus is soon to launch a Wi-Fi wave controller for its Pulse range of DC pumps. Named the Octo Pulse+ Wi-Fi Controller, the new electrical box will connect to up to two separate Pulse pumps, enable scheduled changes to wave presets and flow patterns, as well connecting the pumps to the brand-new Reef Octopus App.
Octo currently produces two Pulse wave pumps, the OP-2 and the OP-4, each delivering 6000lph and 17000lph respectively. The controller they are supplied with offers four pre-programmed flow patterns, eight-speed settings, and feed mode, only as good as it is, it has only offered enhanced, potential Wi-Fi control up until now via its 0-10v port for a controller like the Apex, or via CoralVue’s Hydros.
With the launch of the Pulse+ Controller, Octo is bringing Wi-Fi control of their pumps in-house, starting with their wave pumps and the new App. Reef Octopus fans will note that the current Pulse’s wired controller matches those of the Vario-S DC return and skimmer pumps, so we predict a Wi-Fi upgrade and app control path for those devices will also be in the pipeline for launch in the future.
