Tropical Marine Centre has been refining its nano equipment offering lately with new tanks, pumps, skimmers, and filters. The Next Wave 35 Nano tank is the latest offering from the Reefefficiency stable and the smallest Next Wave tank to date, measuring 40x30x31cm/ and holding 35 liters/9.25 gallons of water.
It is available as an AIO Marine Kit complete with a return pump, media basket, air-driven skimmer, and LED light, or as tank-only for those who want a bare tank that they can populate with their own bespoke choice of equipment.
Low Running costs
Energy bills are sky-high in Europe right now so TMC has really drilled down into the cost of running their aquariums and has selected super-efficient, tiny equipment to match. The fixed speed 250lph return pump uses just 5 watts of electricity, the LED light 14 watts, and the skimmer will consume whatever the air pump uses that you match it up with.
Remove the media basket and the whole of the back of the filter section is open, with none of the usual baffles. You’ll need an ATO (not supplied,) to manage salinity but apart from that, the filter section is free for the user to utilize as they require, and it could of course be packed out with standard filter media and run as a freshwater tank too.
The iLumenAir micro + is also new to TMC, comprising a wired, passively cooled, controllable fixture on a flexible arm that can either run at 6500K (good for freshwater,) 450nm Fiji Blue, or a combination of both. The unit is populated with 2 x 6 watts worth of diodes and runs at a maximum of 14 watts of electricity at the wall.
Accessories are also available to fit out the Next Wave as a mini reef including a mini wave pump, DC skimmer, DC media reactor, rock structures, net cover, and heat retainer, so like-minded enthusiasts could have some fun with this tank and restricted tank size can sometimes create new opportunities for micro critters like Sexy shrimp, Trimma gobies and co. A full list of recommended livestock is also supplied.
