The new UNS R80 is an aesthetic and functional masterpiece featuring a central overflow with four return lines on each face of the overflow box, allowing for full system flow in every direction. The unit has a one-year warranty and retails for $3,049.99. It is currently available here at buceplant.com
It comes with frag racks designed to optimize the space as efficiently as possible. It also has a patent-pending aluminum stand. Organization-wise, this system has it all—sliding drawers, an electrical tower, regions to mount controllers, and places to place dosing containers. Another feature I like immensely is that the sump is nearly completely sealed, which helps keep salt creep at bay, eliminating another maintenance aspect. I wish more manufacturers designed sumps like this. The glass sump also has a built-in ATO reservoir.
The system is 52 gallons (192 L) with a total volume of 76 gallons (277 L), including the sump. The tank’s dimensions are 31.5 x 31.5 x 14.17″ (80 x 80 x 36 cm), sporting 12 mm glass. The stand’s dimensions are 31.5 x 31.5 x 35.43″ (80 x 80 x 90 cm). It contains four doors which come in white or grey allowing access from all sides and one storage drawer. The sumps dimensions are 21.3 x 28.74 x 17.72″ (54.1 x 73 x 45 cm). It has a volume of 24 gallons (85 L). It contains three filter bag slots and has four total chambers.
All in all, this system represents an innovative design perfectly combining form and function. I expect to see this unit in many retail spaces, as it’s quite attractive. It has been nice to see an aesthetic-forward company such as UNS, known for their stunning freshwater hardware, enter the saltwater market and continue to push the envelope with their designs.
Hey Salem, I have some questions to ask about the biome of feeding live foods like mussels and how that may influence bacteria biome etc. In the reef aquarium. Maybe you should start a thread on Humble.fish as an AMA. I know you answer alot of questions int he lives but for those that miss the lives and have questions it would be great to pick your brain.
