USHIO Introduces G12 Base Metal Halide lamp in Aqualite™ Series

Ushio has released their popular lamp color, Aqualite™ Series in a G12 type bulb. “This new single ended 150W lamp design in 14,000 Kelvin harnesses the ability to align the lamp to a parabolic reflector axially, leading to more efficient light collection and advanced fixture designs.   Depending upon the fixture and reflector photometric, this lamp can be used for spot lighting deeper areas of large tanks or for flood lighting nano-tanks. USHIO’s 14,000K color mixture enhances the blue spectrum in corals while maintaining a high color rendering balance for white rock and sand. ” You’ll be able to pick the new G12 lamp up at most Ushio retailers for around $80.

    I love this form factor. All we need now are proper pendant style luminaria to house this in and we can get japanese style spotlight effects in our tanks. My tank has two rocks and I’d love to put three of these lamps on to spotlight the two rocks. I really don’t need to have 300 PAR on my sandbed. LOL.

    I know Won brothers makes a very nice ballast pendant combo but I’ll love to see what other manufacturers can come up with.

    Aquatic Life makes fixtures for them but I don’t think any pendants. Wavepoint has some as well but only for the 35w version :(
