AquaMaxx starts Importing JNS Skimmers in the US

By on Jun 14, 2010

AquaMaxx, an upstart company brand that entered the marine aquarium industry in mid-2008 with a line of metal halide bulbs has added to their catalog with their new line of Protein Skimmers produced by JNS Skimmers. Marine Depot is the first company to start selling the new AquaMaxx line of cone protein skimmers directly on their website with some of the newer models including: AquaMaxx AM, AquaMaxx HOB, and finally the AquaMaxx Cone series. We haven’t seen these new skimmers on Marine Depot’s website yet, but expect it to happen early this week. Follow the break below to get a run down of the new AquaMaxx skimmers and what you should expect from each model.

AquaMaxx AM Series Protein Skimmer

§ AquaMaxx protein skimmers are computer engineered, precision-cut and made of polished cell-cast acrylic.

§ Fine-tune wet or dry foam production using the Quick-Adjust Valve.

§ The included Sedra skimmer pump has been upgraded with a special needlewheel impeller to shred incoming air bubbles into micro bubbles for better performance.

§ ShockMaxx rubber feet dramatically reduce noise and vibration.

§ A built-in bubble plate decreases chamber turbulence and improves efficiency.

§ A removable, low-clearance collection cup makes cleaning easy.

§ Includes a drain fitting for hobbyists who want to setup a separate reservoir for skimmate.

thay have been up for a week or so at md. looks like the am series is between $249-$449. the smallest uses a sedra 5000 pump and the largest uses a moddifed sicce psk2500.

from inital details i would rather buy a reef octo, msx,swc extreme. better pump for the get go and better priced. should prefor better as well. why they didnt use the sicce pump on the smaller models is beyond me, they work so well on other skimmers with nearly the same body it would seem like a no brainer. perhaps it was for cost cutting reasons but again the cost is higher with a lesser pump.

did aquamaxx buy warner marine or did warner change there name? i see the red demon pinwheel is now made by aquamaxx, not warner marine.

The cone skimmer, shark, is a great skimmer, skims very well.

i don’t like the light blue colour, white would have been nice.

Good Question. They used to have a sponsor forum on RC but no more. Unless Jon moved from CA to FL, it’s probably not the same company, but who knows. Still wouldn’t buy anything that came from JNS again.

Looks like Marine Depot owns at least the domain name for Aquamaxx (aquamaxxaquariums.com) Might be why they’re the sole vendor for the protein skimmers. Most likely it’s not an Warner Marine name change but Marine Depot importing skimmers and such.
