Magical video by Coral Morphologic shows the staghorn coral tree nursery in exquisite detail

By on Oct 04, 2011

If you were intrigued by our last story on the staghorn coral tree nursery by the Coral restoration Foundation, Coral Morphologic has produced a video of what these aquaculture contraptions look like out in the field. We’re not sure how this underwater video was shot so smoothly, we have to work to do it on land, but the execution is 100%.

From the opening shot showing the aquarium-style ‘coral candy’ of small staghorn coral frags to the long line up of small colonies all growing together on a string, this video of the coral tree nursery is a great documentation of what kinds of innovations are possible when dealing with corals when we toss out the status quo.

I know this brown stagehorn is ‘American’ and yeah its beautiful how its being cultivated, but honestly imagine an agriculture forest of Strawberry shortcakes or Garf Bonsai or Tierra De Fuego or even Red Planets… ORA needs needs to score a plot of ocean and get on this…..

But not tell anyone its location cause it would be a goldmine for thieving scuba certified reefers :)
