If yesterday’s post about the best nature photos included a broad range of aquatic images and photography style, today’s nature gallery of the day is razor-sharp in focus. Alexander Semenov is a diving photographer from Russia who has honed his photography skills to produce amazing macro photographs of cold water marine life like pteropods, skeleton shrimp, jellyfish, and all kinds of freaky jumbo amphipods.
The first thing that comes to mind after browsing Alexander Semonov’s Another World and Another World part 2 is that if we lived on the same stretch of Russian coastline as Alex is diving we’d have tons of little nanos and picos showcasing these incredible mini monster invertebrates. Swimming snails called Pteropods go by the names ‘Sea Angel’ and ‘Sea Devil’ flapping their watery wings to stay afloat like plankton.
Many of these creatures including the intriguing scaleworm have fluorescent properties and who knows how awesome they’d look under fluorescent and multicolored LED light set ups. The images here are only a smattering of Alexander’s stunning macro photographs so for the full monty be sure to visit Alexander Semenov’s Behance profile.
