It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the Reef Angel Community, but they haven’t exactly been sitting still. Reef Angel now not only features web portal control for access from anywhere on the globe, but it now also has its own android and Iphone App for increased access from your mobile device. The Android App for the Reef Angel (developed by Curt Binder) not only allows you to monitor your Reef Angel but also allows you to update Internal Memory, toggle Feeding and Water Change modes, Clear the ATO and Overheat flags if needed, set date and time on the controller and switch any of the outlets on or off (Up to 80 outlets, yes Reef Angel supports up to 80 outlets).
The Iphone App (developed by John Wiebalk) also allows full control of the controller much like the android app, additionally also featuring intuitive dimming and heating control. Beside the above mentioned Apps the Reef Angel Community also has developed numerous software to control any of the Reef Angels features right from your desktop.
The Reef Angel Generator (By Curt Binder, for PC only) allows you to configure your reef angel controller with a few simple clicks. Reef Angel Status (also Curt binder) allows you to monitor your controller’s parameters PWM and ATO port updates, additionally allowing you to edit timers. Since it is java based it is compatible with both Mac and PC. Reef Angel Client Suite (by Dave Molton, PC only) allows you to monitor and configure any possible Reef Angel task you might come up with and also features graphing functions. Lastly Windows Gadget (by Dave Molton, PC only) is a simple gadget that allows you to monitor your Reef Angel Controller right from the task bar.
With all these added features (and much more code not mentioned in this post) also comes larger file sizes. With some Reef Angel users reaching their controllers maximum memory capacity, Reef Angel has now also released the Reef Angel Plus. Whereas the standard Reef Angel comes with 32K of memory the Reef Angel Plus comes with 265K of memory leaving the user with no worries about reaching their Reef Angel’s maximum memory capacity any time soon. The Reef Angel Plus retails for $279 and the regular Reef Angel still retails for $219.
