It’s been far too long since we’ve featured a real nice hybrid angelfish morph so we thought to revisit the Tigerpyge living in Hong Kong. Three of them to be exact, living happily together in the aquarium of frequent contributor Jimmy Ma.
One of the neatest aspects of these particular hybrids of Centropyge eibli and Centropyge flavissima from Cocos Island is that two of these specimens have been thoroughly documented in the past. Red Heart King imported one of the smaller Tigers in October 2011 and the other hybrid angelfish was acquired as recently as last Fall.
You can see that a little of the vibrance in the freshly collected specimens has become subdued, and some of the darker colors and shading have darkened. But by and large, these are not mere xanthic eibli angelfish and their hybrid coloration written in their genes is holding true.
