Years of making LED lights are really paying off for Orphek’s innovations department with a head-turning second version of the Atlantik. Out of the box the Atlantik V2 LED will have wireless control that you can use with any Android device; however since Orphek is feeling plucky about their new flagship light each one will come paired with a preconfigured Android tablet – probably not a nexus but it sure beats a simple button remote.
The best new groundbreaking feature of the Atlantik V2 is that it will be populated will all dual chip LEDs. Each LED twin is nestled side by side under the same lens and running at half the power of their predecessor. Doubling the LEDs while halting their overall power means the LEDs will be more efficient, they will last longer in output and spectrum and pairing them up so closely results in better color blending.
Speaking of colors, the Atlantik V2 sports white LEDs with a “spectral peak in the lower 410 and 420nm [wavelengths] allowing for better overall spectrum across the fixture”. We’ll have to evaluate these white + UV LEDs for ourselves in person but it sure sounds cool on paper. Additional changes and improvements include a red LED which is not natively red, but instead produced with a red phosphor coating for a much broader spectrum red light than is possible with a discrete narrow bandwidth red diode. There’s also a “wide range” blue LED chip in the mix which we’ll have to get more information about in person.
Stay tuned for our coverage of the Atlantik V2 LED which we promise to give some special attention at MACNA in just a few short days.
