The Reef Octopus Elite Super Cone Skimmer is the latest high capacity protein skimmer from the highly prolific Chinese marine aquarium company. The Elite Super Cone is essentially identical in specs to the recently announced Reef Octopus Prime skimmers save for being larger and equipped with a totally different pump.
The Elite Super Cone skimmer picks up where the Prime skimmers leave off in terms of size and capacity. All of the hallmarks of the Royal Exclusiv & Vertex design and engineering cues are all still there which is to say an oblique injection into the skimmer, a bubble diffuser plate, a curving cone body and all white and red accents.
The single biggest difference in the Elite Super Cone is the use of Reef Octopus’s new, latest generation of controllable DC pumps. The newest installment of Reef Octopus DC pumps is a very flattering pressure curve which should allow these skimmers to run really well, even when operated at below optimal water level depth.
Reef Octopus Elite Super Cone skimmers will be available in at least two sizes, an 8 inch diameter Elite 200 running the RODC 3500s pump and a 9 inch diameter Elite 220 Super Cone skimmer using the larger RODC 5500s pump. We have no doubt that both models of the Elite Super Cone from Reef Octopus will be some beastly skimmate producers but all we want to know now is how much will they cost, and how quiet are they in real life.
