Alongside the MaxSpect Ethereal LED, the Glaive is another hotly anticipated new LED light fixture from the prolific manufacturer. Where the Ethereal LED is a single square fixture meant to compliment reef tanks like the Mazarra, the Glaive is a solid state, passively cooled LED striplight-fixture with a special emphasis on superb mixing of LED color.
The heart of the MaxSpect Glaive LED lighting system is a specially licensed 4-core multi chip LED which comes in two distinct color combinations, indicated by two models of the MaxSpect Glaive LED. The Glaive G4F for fish only and planted aquaria is endowed with 6000K white, 450nm blue, 520nm green and 620nm red LEDs. Meanwhile, the Glaive G4M is designed for marine and reef applications with 3000K warm white, 460nm royal blue, 500nm blue (cyan) and 420nm super actinic/ near UV LEDs.
All Glaive models have four channels of color control, programmable with the built in controller and additionally accessible with the included infrared remote, MaxSpect is producing the Glaive in four sizes from 12 to 30 inches long and we can’t wait to spy what these lights look like in person, especially the effect of the combination of the warm white and abundant blue LEDs in the marine version Glaive G4M.
