There are simple tank mounts, and then there are mounting systems. The Radion Mounting System aka RMS is in the latter category and while it seems like it could be just a simple mounting solution, the level of thought and consideration of the needs of actual users is what makes the RMS the only tank mounting solution that we want to feature in and of itself.
Besides just being able to affix to a wide range of aquarium rims, a mouting option like the RMS should also be sturdy, attractive, and highly functional. Part of the attraction of the Radion Mounting System is the channels for routing away the power cords, and the elegant angle at which it holds the Radion light for which it was intended. Furthermore the sliding and rotating brackets really shine when they allow Radion XR30s to be positioned anywhere over the tank.
The RMS is uniquely the first aquarium product that has addressed the need for a truly engineered mounting option for a dedicated light. But before you go thinking this is just a fanboy rave, there’s a gap in the system that we are most excited to see in the future, and that’s the ability to angle the light up to about 30 degrees, with the existing swivel allowing the fixtures to point at specific places in our reef tanks.
In our hands on overview of the Radion Mounting System at Ecotech Marine’s head offices, we sat down with Tim Marks and review all the different ways that the RMS can be used, and we are particularly excited about the new tank-length RMS with arms on both sides of the tank.
