The FlowBox is a new digital flow meter from Pacific Sun, makers of fine LED lights and LED + T5 hybrid light fixtures. The first day we swung by the Pacific Sun booth at InterZoo we were enamored by the CalcFeeder Pro, an innovative new take on how to operate a calcium reactor without a pH probe.
The next time we visited the booth, an equally intriguing product called the FlowBox had simply appeared right along side the CalcFeeder Pro, so it’s a great thing that we came back to see this interesting new aquarium accessory. Like the PRS Corrente, the Pacific Sun FlowBox is a digital flow meter with an LCD display.
The touch screen of the FlowBox flow meter display current flow rate, minimum and maximum flow for the last 24 hours, but we’re not sure what functions the touch screen will perform, other than to reset the flow speed history. Furthermore, the actual flow sensor of the FlowBox is different from the spinning impeller of the PRS Corrente in that it is built with a spinning propeller for flow measurement.
It’s way to soon in the history of digital flowmeters to tell which type of sensor is more accurate or reliable in the long term, only time will tell. The estimated price of the Pacific Sun FlowBox is going to be around 200€ with only slight deviations for the different sized inline flow sensors which will be available.
