Ecotech Marine has formally taken the wraps off its next flagship LED aquarium light and we couldn’t be any more excited for the fourth-generation Radion. From the radically improved lenses, to the additional colors, increased power, and extra control channels, there’s lots to look forward to about the Radion G4 LED light.
But apparently, it seems that won’t be all we can look forward to in the fourth generation Radion LED. It’s easy to be distracted by all the pretty pictures and renders in the information packet Ecotech released about the Radion G4 LED but we found a single tantalizing detail buried deep in the press release’s FAQ:
Will the Generation 4 Radion be compatible with EcoSmart Live and my ReefLink?
Yes. The setup and programming of Generation 4 Radions are exactly the same as previous model Radions. Additional control functionality will be available as appropriate for Gen 4 lights.
The mention of ‘additional control functionality’ really took us by surprise as it’s included as a casual detail but we’re really struggling to imagine what this could mean. The Radion and all of Ecotech Marine’s products are already ‘infinitely’ controllable, so what other control functionality could Ecotech Marine introduce to this light in the future?
Will the Radion G4 have some crazy feature like voice control? Will it interoperate with Aqua Illumination LED lights? Or could it be something as simple as being able to control individual LED clusters within the Radion LED light? Additional Control Functionality is such a wide open door we’re trying to picture what this could mean but if you have any knowledge, ideas or theories about what Ecotech might have in store, let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
