Automated mechanical filters using a fleece roll are nothing new, but most of what we have seen tend to be boxy and bulky. But the ClariSea Fleece filter seems to have found the perfect balance between form and function to provide a legitimate option for replacing filter socks.
According to documentation we’ve seen, the ClariSea automatic roll filter hangs on the wall inside your sump — just like a filter sock — so you don’t have to buy a complete sump with it integrated or take up precious real estate under the tank for a bulky filter box.
The ClariSea Fleece Filter is made on a modular design to allow you to swap parts if needed without replacing the entire filter. The fleece, that can filter to 25 microns, automatically advances to ensure a clean filter is always in place to maximize mechanical filtration. In case of something going wrong, the ClariSea also features integrated bypass functions and a failsafe overflow.
It can handle up to 1,235 GPH and comes in two different sizes and is constructed out of what appears to be white and clear acrylic for a clean and modern look.
The ClariSea SK-10 measures in at 4 x 5.3 x 17.7 in. and uses a 10 cm fleece roll (25m long). It is recommended for tanks up to 105 gallons and allows up to 495 GPH of water through the filter.
The larger ClariSea SK-15 measures in at 8.66 x 6.3 x 17.7 in. and uses a 15 cm fleece roll (25m long). It is recommended for tanks up to 264 gallons and allows up to 1,235 GPH of flow through it.
