If you enjoyed our first video walkthrough of Cairns Marine with a focus on the fish systems, you’re definitely going to love this next part with more emphasis on the corals. We’ve been to coral collectors around the world plenty of times but seeing such a concentration of Australian corals all in one place was definitely a life-experience.
Seeing so many Ricordea yuma in a single tank, of all different colors, a never ending field of long tentacle plates or just exactly what Aussie Trachies look like is a biogeographical treat. Of course, the real show stopper at Cairns Marine is the several 10 meter long tanks chock full of Australian acros.
When it comes to brilliant, shallow water classic Acroporas, we’ve never seen so many specimens in one place as we saw at Cairns Marine. Just about every single, classic Aussie Acro was well represented at Cairns Marine, and they are prominently featured in this second video of our visit to the world famous marinelife dealer.
It was so cool to see big sections of coral holding tanks with small fields of just Acro echinata, Strawberry Shortcake, blue vermiculata and so many others. And due to the cyclone the week before it’s our understanding that this was actually a small coral harvest for Cairns Marine.
I can’t even imagine what the place is like when it’s totally packed with corals, but if ever you wanted to do some biotopic window shopping of Australian Acroporas, this is the video for you.
