The Radion Gen 5 was officially announced hardly more than a day ago but we’re already well into our first date with this exciting light. Better yet, the first of the fifth generation Radions that we got our hands on is the all-new super blue version called the Radion Gen 5 Blue.
In this video we unbox the brand new sapphire-heavy Radion G5 Blue with more than 100 LEDs and only ten of them can be considered ‘white’ in color. There’s seventy eight cerulean LEDs not including the all new Limes and especially the Cyans since these two are all-new colors for the Radions, and still quite rare in most aquarium LED lighting fixtures.
We are fortunate to have held onto fixtures from two previous versions of Professional Radion lights, and with a Radion G3 Pro and G4 Pro in tow, we can really see how far the Radion Gen 5 Pro has come. Speaking of the ‘Pro’ moniker, the Blue and the Pro are similar in their power and output, with the Pro having a more conventional full spectrum lighting potential and the Blue is obviously to satisfy the modern preferences for super blue spectrum in reef tanks.
If you’re a diehard Radion fan or are really interested to learn or understand more about the technical specifications that make the Radions a full generation worth of improvement, check out our exclusive interview with lead designer Justin Lawyer from last week. But now it’s time to end the teasers and get our salty hands on the new Radion Gen 5 Blue and get everything prepared to light up some blue-light hungry reef aquarium corals.
