You’ve seen us ‘Bob Rossing’ up our reef tanks and picking out corals from the growout systems to plant into the display tanks before, but the purpose of this video is surprisingly different. Last week we travelled to Bethlehem Pennsylvania to visit EcoTech Marine’s new purpose built facility, check out all their fancy machines and manufacturing lines, but also do our part to humanize the place with a couple of fancy new display aquariums.
Not content to simply mail order some corals to paint the reef aquascape with, we went the extra mile and sent large frags and miniature colonies of many of some of our favorite corals – mostly SPS because that’s what we manage to grow out a lot, but also a couple Caulastrea candy corals, some branching Duncanopsammia whisker coral, and some ‘slices’ of a massive Tubipora pipe organ colony. The poetry of using these corals which we have a personal connection with is that a majority of them have historically been grown out in Ecotech marine-powered reef tanks!
Not satisfied by only setting up a reef tank, we also tapped long term aquascaping professional Jeff Senske of Aquarium Design Group to join us in sprucing up the EcoTech lobby with a planted aquarium in a matching Nyos Opus Gen 2 aquarium to highlight the ways that Radions, Vortechs, Vectras, and Versas can be used for creating top notch fresh and saltwater aquarium displays. This unboxing boxing-up video is a preamble, a warm up to the actual tank building videos which will span across the Reef Builders, Aquarium Design Group, and EcoTech Marine YouTube channels so make sure you’re subscribed all around as you won’t want to miss this creative collaboration video series.
