One of the absolute most important things we love in most LED lights is the ability to have fine granular control over the light spectrum by manipulating different color channels. We don’t need to fine tune the lighting color over every kind of tank or for every application but when we’re investing in a flagship light like the Ecotech Marine Radion Pro or Blue it’s really awesome to adjust the color sliders and finely tune the resulting spectrum to achieve a particular aesthetic.
For the last several years since the launch of Mobius which replaced EcoSmart Live we’ve done a lot of manual color mixing of Radions over reef tanks but since we have 20-odd Radions over five different tanks it can take a few minutes to manually adjust each for a particular occasion. Some power users are already thinking why we don’t use presets of color spectrum, and we do, but the new Kelvin spectrum slider which popped up in Mobius in the last few weeks is a very welcome quality of life improvement.
Left to our own devices we’ll manually tune the color sliders a predictable way every time we dive into the manual control but the Kelvin slider shows users the whole spectrum of light color spectral possibilities. The Kelvin spectrum slider has been a mainstay of Ecotech Marine control options as far back as the old wired Radion Connection Manager of first gen LED lights so we we used to use it quite a lot, and almost exclusively.
To be completely honest we hadn’t missed the Kelvin spectrum slider in Mobius, we’d actually forgotten about this highly useful option but now that it’s back, we don’t want to live without it. The return of the Kelvin Spectrum adjustment slider is a very welcome feature which should be even more useful and practical for new users of Radion lights and especially the aquarists creating lushly aquascaped planted tanks using the freshwater version of the Radion.
