Maxspect has topped off its trio of new product releases this week with a new diffuser for one of its most popular lights. Like other diffusers, Maxspect’s own serves to diffuse light from the LEDs and provide better color blending, while also preventing light spillage into the room and the reefkeeper’s eyes. Unlike others, however, two diffusing films are provided to suit the user’s individual tastes but they can then be further altered by fitting them either glossy side up or rough side up to provide the reefkeeper with their own perfect blend between par, color mixing, and shimmer.
The MJ-L165 is one of our favorite small, mid-range LED light fixtures and we weren’t at all unhappy with the color blending, light shimmer, or light spill that it provides. The Diffuser Hood brings options to this light that we never thought we had until now, and at a rock bottom price of just $19.99, that’s probably cheaper than we could purchase a third-party, after-market, 3D printed hood for.
