Aperture Pet & Life is now the exclusive US and Canadian distribution partner for Focustronic. This follows from a string of new American distribution partnerships that include Nyos, Maxspect, and Aquaforest, as well as their own brands BRS, EcoTech, AI, Neptune Systems, and Leap Habitats. One thing that has been clear about the capital investor turned pet product company is the speed at which Aperture is now moving, acquiring American aquatic brands, and launching new products, while also seeking to distribute leading brands from abroad.
This rapid horizontal and vertical growth was always to be expected, with the main beneficiaries being Bulk Reef Supply and Aperture wholesale customers. But if the availability of those saltwater brands and their products improves across North America it’s a win for the consumer too. As long as it’s not at the expense of competing distributors and other aquatic brands.
Focustronic
Focustronic was formed in 2016 and was best known for the pivoting LED light that bore its name, but now its best known for its Alkalinity controller the Alkatronic, along with the accompanying Mastertronic and Dosetronic auto testers and dosers. The Filtertronic smart roller filter was penned for release last year but hasn’t been seen in the wild just yet. The cut-price Dosetronic DC and new Powertronic are also in the pipeline for release.
When Aperture was formed we thought it would concentrate solely on the promotion of its own manufactured products, but the distribution of Maxspect, whose pumps and lights compete with AI and EcoTech, and now Focustronic, whose controllers compete with Neptune’s Trident indicates that market share is the goal for the All-American powerhouse. Maxspect, Focustronic, and Aquaforest were all previously distributed in the US by Hydros manufacturer and distributor CoralVue.
