Precision Marine the company that makes red-line of skimmers based out of Texas is set to introduce a new line of protein skimmers that will take advantage of new pumps hitting the market this past year. We’ve heard that the new pump will be based off a bubble blaster pump which should have increased airflow allowing Precision Marine to increase the plumbing sizes. Of course, Precision Marine has a in house CNC shop and we should expect to see some custom volutes and other improvements to get the most airflow and efficiency from the popular pump. This apparently is all a concept for now, but with skimmers becoming more and more efficient this is a much needed change for Precision Marine.

I am very intrested to find out if the pumps will work with the older skimmers bodies, speficaly the rl-125. I called precision marine to question them on this particular aspect and i was informed that the pumps are still in development and the original two castings for the motor were unsatisfactory. The plan is to have the new motor fit on all the new skimmers, and testing will be done on older skimmers to find out if backwards compatibility is an option. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these pumps…
